The League of Professional Baseball in the Dominican Republic announced yesterday that the next national tournament will devote 2010-2011 to those killed in the tragedy of Rio Verde in 1948, and the memory of the deceased former player Jose Lima.
The dedication to Lima was greeted at unanimously by the directors of the six teams who acknowledged at all times the player's human quality and delivery at the various stages Dominican and baseball.
Lima died at the age of 37 years in the city of Los Angeles, California, on Sunday May 23, victim of a massive heart attack. Last February the professional baseball executives decided to honor the memory of those killed in the tragedy of Green River in 1948.
