A Florida woman accused of violation of pitcher Johan Santana (New York Mets) sued him after authorities refused to pursue the case.
The lawsuit filed Tuesday in Lee County accuses Santana illegal imprisonment and rape in western Florida in October 2009. The35 year old single mother with two children, not identified by name. The lawsuit seeks damages exceeding $ 15,000.
Santana said on Tuesday that "no further comment." Mets spokesman Jay Horwitz those admitted on Wednesday it knew of the lawsuit but had not reviewed.
The attorney for the plaintiff said the lawsuit was filed later that the researchers decided not to pursue the criminal case and because his client thought that Santana did not take the matter seriously.
Women and Santana were neighbors at the time where the incident allegedly occurred.
