The National Commissioner of Professional Boxing, Franklin Nuñez, turned over check for RD $ 175, 000 to (US$4,900.00) to the boxer Dahiana Santana, who has the distinction of being the only Dominican woman to win a world crown in professional boxing.
So did the boxer Santiago de Paula, who in January of 2009 was crowned world heavyweight champion by defeating by knockout to a German boxer during a bout held in Haiti.
Nuñez said the delivery of economic aid to those held by fighters directed by the Secretary of State for Sports, Felipe Payano, who has always been a concern of the social and human Dominican athletes.
Santana won the world bantamweight crown (118 pounds) that supports the Global Boxing Union, the defeat by knockout in the first assault on a female boxer from Australia Doris Koehler ero of 2009 in Haiti.
Both Santana and De Paula, Payano appreciated the gesture and assured that this has been the great patron of boxing.
