NBA commissioner David Stern has suspended Gilbert Arenas for the rest of the season and Javaris Crittenton both Washington Wizards players, to keep firearms in the clothing, the League reported in a statement.
Stern, who argued that gun ownership in the workplace is something that "will not be tolerated" decided the punishment after meeting with both players.
"The problem here is not about the lawful possession of weapons, whether in someone's house or anywhere else," Stern said.
"It's about possession of weapons in the workplace in the NBA, which will not be tolerated," he added.
Arenas, who was previously convicted of illegally carrying firearms, will be sentenced next March.
Stern suspended him indefinitely without pay so the player will lose $ 157,000 for each game that does not quarrel with the Wizards for the contract of $ 16 million that would have to charge this season.
This is his second season in a six-year contract, which would collect $ 111 million.
Meanwhile Crittenton was sentenced to one year of unsupervised probation after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor charge of illegal possession of a firearm in relation to a dispute with his partner Arenas held in early January.
Arenas kept four guns in his locker in the locker room during the game between his team and the San Antonio Spurs, after which it was involved in an incident with teammate Crittenton, which both ended up signing up with firearms by gambling debts.
