Al HorfordATLANTA, GEORGIA. He is 23 years old, is playing out of position for the Hawks, and usually seen behind his peers Joe Johnson and Josh Smith.
However, the coaches feel that the center Al Horford is one of the best players in the league.
He was named to the All-Star reserve on Thursday, along with Johnson for the game Feb. 14 at the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
"It's like a dream come true for me," said Horford, who the Hawks selected as the No. 3 pick in the 2007 draft.
"When you're playing basketball is like a child, imagine yourself as it does for the NBA. And once reached the highest level, ytrabaja hard to reach an All-Star.
"It's a blessing for me to participate in this game," he said.
Horford, 6'10 ", is lower in height to the other centers in the NBA, but it must assess its effectiveness in Atlanta to play with style and a good defense applied by coach Mike Woodson.
"I think it's a very good player, and everyone agrees that it is practically a power forward to provide a center," said Orlando coach Stan Van Gundy
