Pavin Set Marks at Golf Punta Espada

During the second day of the Cap Cana Championship The weather conditions were favorable, allowing the captain of the Ryder Cup, Corey Pavin managed to chart a new course record with 63 hits Punta Espada.

He managed nine birdies and no bogeys for his 36-hole total of 13 under par, leading the table thus achieving and surpassing the mark made in 2009 of 64 hits by the German Bernhard Langer.

Fred Couples, seeking his third victory in four events on the Champions Tour, go two shots behind, tied with Larry Mize, both with a 66.

Russ Cochran was fifth at 9 under par, 135 after a 67. Bernhard Langer was a journey of 65 beating that leaves tied with Tom Pernice Jr. with 8 under par, 136 total. Olin Browne and David Peoples tied for eighth at 6 under par, 137 hits and Tommy Armor III and Bob Tway closed the last two positions of the top 10 with 138.

At the time, 40 players are under par after 36 holes, through which the wind did not appear for a second day.

"No wind can have a good result," said Pavin, a former U.S. Open champion. His nine birdies, including the last four to finish the day, were 15 feet or less.
