Dominican Albert Pujols underwent an MRI exam and received an anti-inflammatory injection yesterday after being taken off the Cardinals' lineup for their game against the Red Sox.
The Dominican suffers from stiffness in the lower back a few days ago.
The Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak said he underwent the MRI to see exactly where the shot put.
The official status of the National League MVP for 2009 is "day to day."
Pujols was removed from the Cardinals' lineup for their game against the Red Sox here, due to back stiffness.
Pujols was presented Monday to the stadium, but not included in the starting lineup, especially considering the rain in Florida in recent days. The Ruben Gotay was scheduled to play at first base instead of Pujols.
