
The Dominican Republic has its team to participate in the boxing tournament of the Central American and Caribbean Games to be held next July in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico.
This was announced by President of the Dominican Federation of Boxing, engineer Welcome Solano.
"We work to assist Mayagüez with a team of eleven boxers," said Solano.
He explained that the fighters currently depleting native scrimmages process, which includes participation in international events like the Copa Cheo Aponte (Puerto Rico), the Battle of Carabobo (in Venezuela), the Pan Superior (Ecuador), Cordova Cardin ( Cuba), among others.
He added that some potential members of the Dominican squad have international experience.
He cited the case of Roberto Navarro, who was part of the representation of Dominican Republic at the Beijing Olympics.
Another trump card, as explained Solano, it is Luis Miguel Diaz, who won the silver medal at the AIBA President Cup in Baku, in addition to being a bronze medal at world junior category. "We are working to structure a really competitive team," said Solano.
