Major League Baseball implemented an extensive program of doping control record and prospects in the Dominican Republic without contracts.
The program became operational this Friday and aims to prospectuses that are candidates to sign professional contracts after 1 July. The initiative also includes a series of workshops to educate players about the risks of using performance-enhancing drugs.
Major League Baseball said in a statement that the measure will help reduce identity fraud and age and the use of banned substances.
Sandy Alderson was hired in March to help implement reforms in baseball in the Dominican Republic. He said Major League Baseball is trying to "educate young players and increase the resources at their disposal to pursue careers as professionals."
