Africans a Failure in World Cup

This should be the World Cup in Africa, not only for being the first to be held on this continent but also the hope that their equipment could play well.

Instead, it has been a big disappointment for the African teams.

Explanations abound, and some may be true. The lack of depth of selections, the weak youth development programs, organisms that lack of professionals worldwide, and relied more on foreign coaches hired for the World Cup short period.

The reality is that six African teams at the World Cup _ the most has had flashes of brilliance were continente_ and determination, but collectively they could not close the gap with Europe and South America.

Ghana barely survived in their group to progress to the knockout stage and confront the United States.
But South Africa, Nigeria, Cameroon and Algeria were eliminated and the Ivory Coast will join them unless the Friday to overcome a handicap of nine goals.

The big jump at the World Cup African has been simmering since Cameroon's performance in 1990, when the charismatic 38-year striker Roger Milla led the "Indomitable Lions'' to the quarterfinals, defeating Argentina in the road.

But this remains a milestone of Africa, no other team has matched that achievement in the last two decades. This year, the talented Nigeria lost to Greece, due in part to the red card for a silly Sani Kaita missing, and then could only draw with South Korea when needed.
