Lula Wanted Ronaldinho in Brazilian Team

BRASILIA - President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva Tuesday defended the Brazil team that coach Dunga took the World Cup in South Africa, but stated that Ronaldinho still deserved a chance in the combined.

"Looking at the map of the Brazilian players, Dunga did not leave anyone out," Lula said in an interview with Radio Jangadeiro, in the northeastern city of Fortaleza.

"There is only one person who deserved another chance, which is Ronaldinho Gaucho."

The skillful attacker was not included among the 23 players that play Dunga took the championship, although he was among the seven reserve players.

According to Lula, the player is aware that has not been at his best to have a safe place in the selection of Dunga.

"Someone of his level, crack as he is, knows that if he was playing all he knows, no one would cease to convene," said the president. "We know there was a time without playing, was in reserve with Barcelona, Milan and in the Copa America would not participate."

Lula defended the call by Dunga players despite the criticism he received the technician to bet more on "workers" that skilled players.

"It's the best we have. Dunga won the Copa America with this team, won the Confederations Cup with this team," said the president, a football fan this year, ending his eight years at the Brazilian government.
