
Dominican Republic returned from a partial down and played a spectacular volley to beat USA 3-1 (22-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-16) advancing to match the gold medal in the Women's Pan American Cup third consecutive year.
Prisilla Dominican Rivera led four double-digit scoring with 20 points while Annerys Vargas, Altagracia Eve Lisvel Mambrú and compiled 15, 14 and 12 points respectively. The Americans Jordan Larson and Foluke Akiradewo had 12 points each for the defeated side.
"Today we played as a team and follow the instructions with discipline," said Captain Dominican Milagros Cabral. "We really came ready to play five sets because it is always a battle between these two teams. Reaching the finals was one of our goals and we succeeded.
Marcos Kwiek, Dominican manager said: "Of all the tournaments I've been leading the Dominican team that has been our worst, but today we had our best game of the competition.
