TORONTO (AP) - Detroit Pistons forward dominican Charlie Villanueva faces charges of domestic assault after an incident on 19 May in the Canadian city of Burlington, Ontario.
Villanueva, 25, was released by the Halton Regional Police under the promise to appear in court on July 9. The applicant's name was not released Tuesday, there was not more details about the incident.
His lawyer said Villanueva Owen Wigderson "denies all allegations of having committed any crime, and am very confident he will be exonerated."
Villanueva has played five NBA seasons with three different teams since the Toronto Raptors selected him in the first round. Last year he played his first season with the Pistons team he was hired as a free agent after three years with the Milwaukee Bucks.
