Clark, 48, was interim manager of the Astros in the last fifteen days of the 2009 season. It will also be the 53rd manager to lead the current deca-champions of the Caribbean and the first American of color since Ron Washington did in the winter of 1999-00.

Prior to Washington, went to the Bengalis, Lorenzo Bundy (1996), Leo Posada (1991), John Roseboro (1990) and Alonzo Perry (1952).

Clark finished the selection process for candidates after passing the likes of Ryne Sandberg, Al Pedrique, Luis Sojo and Rafael Landestoy, among others.
