Francona Defeat Big Papi

The Red Sox manager Terry Francona said his slugger David Ortiz was angry because he heard a discussion on the subject on the TV in the dressing room on Wednesday night. "Did he say bad words?" Said Francona to look innocent.

The manager held a firm belief that three games is not enough time to make changes to the Red Sox lineup, especially one as drastic as to mate with a right-handed hitter Ortiz to be the designated hitter against left-handed pitchers.

The alignment of the clubhouse was the same as that of the first two games of the series. Against Yankees lefty Andy Pettitte, Ortiz would bat fifth as designated. Mike Lowell, a possible alternative on the right side instead of Ortiz, he was in the bank.

"What I have learned here is that it is difficult and that we must be patient," Francona said, "and when you do not want to be patient, you really need it or could damage a lot."

"Tonight could have been good for use at Lowell. It would have been a bad night for David not to use, and as we do not give two nominees, had to make that decision. "
