New York Mets Have many Non-American Players

The New York Mets introduced a record for players on their roster for opening, born outside the United States.

A total of 18 players on the initial list of 25 or on the disabled list, this is almost double the other five teams with 10, according to a report from the majors.

The old record was 16 in Washington, in 2005.

Omar Minaya, Mets´General Manages, is from the Dominican Republic and is one of three general managers born outside the United States.

Alex Anthopoulos, Toronto, and Doug Melvin in Milwaukee, are Canadians. The roster of the Mets have five Venezuelans - Johan Santana, Henry Blanco, Kelvim Escobar, Francisco Rodriguez and Fernando Nieve. Luis Castillo, Jenrry Mejia, Jose Reyes and Fernando Tatis are Dominicans.

Carlos Beltran, Alex Cora, Pedro Feliciano and Angel Pagan are Puerto Ricans.
Jason Bay is Canadian.
