Milledgeville .- The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will not be prosecuted over allegations that he raped a young woman in a nightclub last month, officials determined Monday.
The allegations of a 20 year old student can not be demonstrated unequivocally, said prosecutor Fred Bright, and the girl's lawyer said she did not want to proceed with the case.
"So there will be arrests or legal proceedings against Mr. Roethlisberger," said Bright.
The woman had told police he sexually assaulted Roethlisberger on 5 March in Capital City nightclub, where he had gone to celebrate his birthday with friends.
Bright said the investigation showed that she was heavily intoxicated that night. She and some friends had gathered with Roethlisberger at another bar hours before, and he invited them to his exclusive salon in the Capital City Club and asked for all drinks. When the woman went to the bathroom, Roethlisberger followed.
