LONDON - Machester City defender Wayne Bridge has been excluded himself from the future list of selected for the English national team that Italian Fabio Capello will lead the South African World Cup.
In a statement issued today by his lawyers, the player indicates that his position at the team has become "untenable and potentially divisive," direct reference to his relationship with former captain of the "Pross" John Terry.
Bridge, 29, has spent recent weeks in the eye of the hurricane for alleged infidelity with his former girlfriend Terry, when both were partners at Chelsea.
The scandal forced Capello to recall the captain of his post to avoid breaking the harmony of the squad for the important World Cup event in England as a part of the favorites along with Brazil and Spain.
"I've thought a lot about my position on the football team as a result of information and events of recent weeks.'s Always been an honor to play for England. However, my position at the combine is now untenable and potentially divisive" , Bridge said in the note.
"Sadly," he continues, I think for the good of the team and to avoid distractions safe, I decided not to selection.
