For the first time, the sport appears in a text of the Dominican Constitution c, which speaks of the importance it has given to this sector of national life that is bringing so much joy to people every time an athlete excels in the country or abroad.
Sports Minister Felipe Payano, said it is "unprecedented" in Republican history. "We thank President Fernandez and all the assembly members who made this possible."
Article 65 states: Everyone has the right to physical education, sport and recreation. The State, in collaboration with schools and sports organizations, foster, encourage and support the practice and dissemination of these activities.
Therefore: 1) The State assumes the sport and recreation as a public policy education and health and ensures the physical education and sport in schools at all educational levels, according to law, 2) The law shall provide resources and incentives for the promotion of sport for everyone, comprehensive care of athletes.
