The Sports Ministry yesterday dismissed the delegation of the Dominican Republic that operated in Latin II Special Olympics Games which will take place in Puerto Rico, with the participation of more than twenty countries and more than athletes.
Felipe Payano handed them air tickets to the directors of the delegation who attended the office accompanied by the athletes who will represent the Dominican flag with pride.
He said the Special Olympics always begin their activities by starting each year and there the country is always the first medals in international fair.
The Dominicans 28 athletes and eight coaches who traveled yesterday to Puerto Rico to participate dell 18 to 28 this month at the II Latin American Special Olympics Games, the largest regional importance.
The disciplines in which the Dominican Republic are operated softball, basketball uniform half special athletes, swimming and triathlon. Four delegates will complete the national representation in the neighboring country.
About 1000 special athletes, 250 coaches, 700 volunteers, 1,000 families, 150 judges and officers, and over 20,000 spectators from around the world will meet in these Special Olympics.
