He was in all, good and bad. But mostly the bad, and will be remembered as the great villain in the elimination of Brazil's World Cup quarter-final at the hands of Holland.

Felipe Melo returned to the lineup on Friday in Brazil after recovering from a sprained left ankle he suffered in the last game of the first phase against Portugal and had an auspicious start.

Juventus midfielder saw a large hole in the defense and slipped a pass orange for peak Robinho, who escaped alone and opened the scoring after 10 minutes of play.

But in addition, he came to the world over Melo and Brazil.

Melo bother with goalkeeper Julio Cesar in trying to clear a center of Wesley Sneijder curled the ball 53, which ended in their bows and tied the game.

Twenty minutes later, when Brazil was losing 2-1, Melo was a treacherous drive to Arjen Robben stepped on when he was down and virtually sealed the fate of his team.

"It is difficult to play a man down," said coach Dunga, who had played by Melo despite some doubts about his temperament. Dunga, however, said the defeat "is the fault of everyone and Felipe would be unfair to blame."

"It's not the first time someone is sent off in a World Cup. The responsibility is all," insisted the tactician. "These things happen."

Dunga said the Brazilians "became nervous" by the performance of Japanese referee Yuichi Nishimura.

"At halftime I told the players that was charging fouls that were not. A Michel (Bastos) showed him a yellow card was not," he said.

That was added to the natural tensions of the world.

"Many players see the World Cup as the great opportunity of his career. That creates nerves. Fouls are committed, is discussed and you end up losing concentration," he said.

Until a few minutes before the crash was unknown whether the midfielder would leave marks on the court because no one knew if he was one hundred percent recovered from the injury, which prevented him from playing in the knockout final against Chile.

But Dunga pulled him from the start against the Netherlands.

Melo was the mate Gilberto Silva in the work of marking in the midfield.
