Dominican New York Yankees Third Baseman, Alex Rodriguez, who spent last season his worst experience as a professional in accepting that he had used banned substances, said he was ready to raise funds to help fight the use of steroids.

Rodriguez is scheduled to attend a fundraising event for an organization that informs young people about the dangers of using drugs to improve athletic performance.

The star third baseman of the World Series champion has worked with the Taylor Hooton Foundation since last year, when he admitted that he used steroids.

This organization honors the memory of a 17-year baseball player who committed suicide in 2003 because of side effects that generated the consumption of banned substances.

Doctors believe Taylor Hooton became depressed after stopping steroid use. "Hooton is just a guy who had a tremendous passion for what he did," Rodriguez said before the duel that the Yankees played in Oakland on Tuesday night.

"It's no secret that we have worked together for a while (the foundation), in a way that I hope has proved unobtrusive. "

"I'd rather not talk too much about this." The foundation announced on Tuesday that Rodriguez and some of her classmates will attend a meeting after the August 19 game against the Detroit Tigers as part of the fundraising campaign at Yankee Stadium.
