NBA star Paul Pierce and the Boston Celtics have agreed to an extension of four years, according to multiple reports.
The sources told ESPN.com on Thursday that Pierce's agent, Jeff Schwartz, and the team had made progress in contract talks and hoped to make a verbal agreement on July 8, the first day in which free agents can officially sign agreements.
The agreement appears to be turned quickly with sources suggesting that Pierce never had serious talks with other franchises despite interest from some "few" teams.
The Celtics have now secured two leaders for his team in three days, as Doc Rivers decided to return to Boston bank on Wednesday. Boston now focus their attention on the unrestricted free agent Ray Allen - and the rest of their seven unrestricted free agents - in order to keep your team together choir after winning the title in 2008 and left six minutes of repeating last season.
FoxSports said the deal was for four years, $ 61 million.
Pierce opted out of his contract last year and offered 21.5 million, but said long-term continuity, which will pay about 15.25 million per season. This could give some flexibility to the Celtics and makes you save major dollars in luxury tax for being over the salary cap.
With a four-year agreement, Pierce also said a no-trade clause valuable, which can ensure that will remain in Boston for the rest of his career. Will be 36 when his new contract expires.
